- Bank of America Merrill Lynch will again hand the reins of its mergers and acquisitions group to Steven Baronoff as the team’s current head, Jeffrey Kaplan, will leave to join the hedge fund Appaloosa Management, the firm said in an internal memorandum obtained by DealBook.
- Mr. Baronoff, one of Merrill’s most senior bankers, led the firm’s mergers business from 2000 to 2009. He will hold onto his current title of chairman of global M&A as part of the move, according to the memo.
