Excerpts: Cablevision Agrees to Carry the YES Network
- But two people with knowledge in the negotiations, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the agreement gave YES the price it wanted — and which Cablevision had derided as overly expensive — but it also gave Cablevision flexibility from YES’s demand that it be available on the expanded basic tier to all of the cable operator’s customers, as YES is on all other local cable systems.
- But the agreement gives Cablevision the ability to market YES as an expanded basic channel in some areas where Cablevision already sells its own networks, the MSG Network and Fox Sports New York, on basic tiers. The agreement will also let Cablevision sell YES as a stand-alone premium channel, or one that is part of a sports premium package, the executives said.
